Senior Quantity Surveyor - Data Centres – London


Our client is a large and well-established MEP Sub-Contractor operating across the UK, Ireland & Europe. They undertake major Mechanical & Electrical Packages on behalf of Tier:1 main contractors involved in ‘technology’ schemes including Data Centres, Pharmaceutical, Semi-Conductor plants and heavy industrial projects.  
 

Due to continued growth in the region of their Data Centre division, our client is now seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their European Data Centre team based on a hyper-scale data centre build in London.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Cost Estimation for MEP Systems: Prepare accurate cost estimates for MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection, based on design documents, system specifications, and regulatory requirements.
  • Tendering and Procurement: Manage the procurement process for MEP subcontractors and suppliers. Issue tenders, review bids, negotiate contracts, and ensure the selection of qualified parties who offer the best value for the project.
  • Cost Control and Budget Management: Oversee the cost control processes for all MEP works throughout the project, ensuring that the MEP elements stay within the established budget. Monitor spending and identify any cost variations or risks early.
  • Change Order Management and Valuations: Assess and manage variations and change orders related to MEP works. Provide accurate cost estimates for changes, negotiate with contractors, and manage the impact on overall project finances.
  • Progress Payments and Valuations: Review the progress of MEP installations and prepare valuations for interim payments. Ensure that progress payments are aligned with the work completed, and ensure timely payments to contractors.
  • Risk Management and Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks associated with MEP systems, including delays, material shortages, and compliance issues. Ensure that all MEP installations meet relevant codes, regulations, and quality standards.

 

Requirements

 

4+ years' experience in a similar role

Bachelor's degree or relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying

Data Centre experience would be advantageous but not essential
